L38 - Electricity Leak Free Taps

Implementing this symbol means that the business/company has affixed the human error sign on the wall behind every mixing tap. In 5 years Save $ 423.80 with one hand wash per day x 5 hand washes per day save $2,119.00
Massive amounts of electrical energy are lost when the lever of our modern designed mixing tap tap is not completely set hard against the right-hand side, it will always more or less mix with the hot without you realizing, up until your electricity bill arrives. This is an invisible leak of energy. So make sure you take care when using this type of lever tap or mixing tap, always have the lever positioned to the far right when you want cold water only. If you are unhappy with your tap that allows for this human error simply replace it with a conventional type.
There are water taps on the market that are also comfortable to use and look as great and fit the single tap perforation arrangement. Avoid hot water wastage and operate the tap only if the lever is positioned to the far right. When this tap and any others are leaking water, address it as soon as possible by repairing the washers. Leaking leaver taps are repairable also.  A non-leaking tap means you are saving at least 20,000 liters of water a year. A small, hissing toilet leak can waste 4,000 -100,000 liters of water per year (add a few drops of food dye to the cistern to identify any leakages in your toilet bowl). You will also save electricity consumption if you are on tank water.
This implementation applies to premises where water taps are well maintained. In the situation where lever taps are used, the implementation of this symbol requires the application of a cold and warm direction sticker on the wall near, or behind, the tap handle.

Taps not only can waste water or electricity when they leak, but they also waste all the effort that’s been put into building dams and pipelines and the effort of their regular maintenance. Energy is also required for the treatment of water to its potable state. Water is precious and after the long drought and water shortages of the early part of this century, most of us know what it feels like to have very little of it. Droughts and water shortages will be experienced again so saving this valuable resource to maximize the chance of having enough for drinking, growing food, and also supplying our wildlife is important. When a hot water tap is leaking, even more energy is lost.

SCROLL TABLE

Example: Hand basin used once a day. This example only includes the calculation of the electrical power loss only, where the leaver tap handle is left in the center position instead of positioned to the far right, the tap releasing 10 liters of water per minute on the average town water pressure. Tap handle in the wrong center position (cold and hot mixed) = average of 5 liters/min at 85C˚
heated from 20C˚ One liter of water uses 0.172 kW of power consumption x 5= 0.86 kW
